LWB supports the Leipziger Tastentage

A piano in the pedestrian zone? This is quite normal during the Leipziger Tastentage. Last Saturday, the extraordinary music festival organized by the Komm-Haus opened for the third time on an LWB property in Grünau. Following the motto "Clara in the Park", the artists individually interpreted pieces by Clara Schumann in cooperation with the Leipziger Notenspur. "We are open to all kinds of music," said Ralph R. He and his wife made the trip from Alt-Lindenau especially for the Grünau open-air concert.

At the centre of the event are 13 upright and grand pianos, which have been set up in shopping centres, park meadows, on the banks of Lake Kulkwitz and many other places in the west of Leipzig. From August 31st to September 15th the instruments are free for everyone to strum around and hit the keys. "Grünau is the district with the fewest pianos in Leipzig's living rooms", says project manager Patrick Seifried, "With the Leipziger Tastentage we want to give impulses and introduce many people to making music". With success: in 2017, for example, a then 7-year-old girl sat at a grand piano for the first time on the Grünauer Markt. Her enthusiasm was so great that she asked her parents for a keyboard on which she taught herself to play with the help of YouTube tutorials.

Meanwhile she performs herself in the program of the Leipziger Tastentage. In the next two weeks, visitors will be offered a wide range of activities, from educational taster lessons to concerts in the areas of classical music, jazz & pop, to cabaret programs or audiovisual projects.
